Antes da gigante do vestu\u00e1rio brasileiro, outra varejista esteve no local que veio a fal\u00eancia, a ic\u00f4nica Mesbla que fechou as portas em 1999. Com o fechamento deste grande estabelecimento fica exposta a decad\u00eancia comercial do Centro de S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds.<br>A Rua Grande que foi o principal Centro Comercial da capital maranhense e que recentemente teve uma reforma, garantindo que ela teria status de Shopping a c\u00e9u aberto, agoniza. V\u00e1rios s\u00e3o os im\u00f3veis que est\u00e3o ficando sem inquilinos e o com\u00e9rcio informal passa a dominar a regi\u00e3o, levando o risco do tradicional com\u00e9rcio de S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds virar um grande camelodromo.<br>Na Rua Grande ainda existem grandes marcas que resistem como \u00e9 o caso das lojas Riachuelo, Americanas, Magazine Luiza, Marisa, \u00d3tica Diniz, Armaz\u00e9m Para\u00edba, Casas Bahia e outras. No entanto, nem de longe lembra o auge que viveu o ic\u00f4nico centro comercial de S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds.<br>A C&amp;A segue suas atividades em S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds, mas agora somente nos shoppings
